The University of Milano -
Bicocca
The University of Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB) is a
young, dynamic and multidisciplinary university,
which in the space of ten years has created an
extensive network including many world-famous
universities, research centres and top
corporations. Students, researchers and
professors have come together at UNIMIB with
ideas, enthusiasm, and talents, and with the
intention of creating a brighter future. |

The University of
Milano - Bicocca has twenty-one departments for the research in the
scientific areas of Economics, Educational Sciences, Law, Mathematics,
Physics and Natural Sciences, Medicine and Surgery, Psychology, Sociology,
Statistical Sciences. The departments promote research at the University,
and organise the research doctorate programmes.
Main role
of the unit is to build models of the Ecological Niche, on
the basis of existing data on plant and animal species on study sites the
unit will select a group of indicators.
Staff Involved
Emilio Padoa-Schioppa
Emilio Padoa-Schioppa is a
researcher specializing in landscape ecology. He works on the management and
conservation of landscapes and habitats in Europe, with a special interest
in the Mediterranean herpetofauna. He participate to BIOHAB project (Concerted
Action, V° Framework Program EVK2-2001-00362), he was responsible of a
project on monitoring Biodiversity in Skadar lake National Park (agreement
from University and ERM-Italy srl) during 2006, and leaded a project for
landscape ecology and nature conservation in Himalaya and Karakorum (framework
agreement from University of Milano-Bicocca and EV-K2-CNR). He is author of
about 60 publications. He will be involved in the management and
coordination of activities, particularly in relation to landscape modelling.
Main role: he will be involved in the management and coordination
of activities, particularly in relation to landscape modelling. Responsible
of Task 6.4 in WP6.
G. Francesco Ficetola
G. Francesco Ficetola is a post-doc.
specializing in conservation and ecology of amphibians and reptiles. He
combines multiple approaches (landscape ecology, macroecology, evolutionary
ecology and population genetics) to obtain information that can be used to
improve conservation actions. He is currently focusing on the issues of
biological invasions. He is author of about 60 publications.Main role:
within WP6, Task 6.4, he will be involved in the applications of on the
algorithm of maximum entropy (MAXENT) that allows identification of the
envelope that can explain the presence of species.
Anna Bonardi
Anna Bonardi is a post-doc
specializing in conservation and population dynamics. She combines different
data sources in order to assess the trends of animal populations at large
scale and to evaluate the actual conservation status. She・s author of 4
pubblications. Main role: she will be involved into building
ecological niche models.
